Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
This policy explains what information the LifeSaga iPhone app (“the app”) and this website handle, why, and the choices you have. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Next Arc Studio, the developer of LifeSaga. If you have a question, contact us at lifesaga@nextarcstudio.com.
1. What we don’t do
- We don’t require or offer accounts, and never ask for your name, phone number, address or date of birth.
- We don’t show ads and don’t share or sell data to advertisers or data brokers.
- We don’t track you across apps or websites. The app doesn’t use the advertising identifier (IDFA), doesn’t ask for tracking permission, and contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
- The app doesn’t access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data.
2. Your game saves
Your lives, family tree, codex and challenge progress are stored on your iPhone. If you are signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive turned on, the app also keeps a copy in the app’s folder in your own iCloud Drive, so your progress follows you to a new iPhone. That copy is held by Apple under your Apple ID and Apple’s privacy policy; we cannot see or access it.
Everyone in the game, including the character you play, is fictional. Names and details you give characters stay in your save unless you turn on AI replies (section 5).
3. The anonymous install ID
On first launch the app creates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is not derived from your device, Apple ID, Game Center profile or advertising identifier, and it isn’t used to track you. It is sent only with feedback and AI chat requests, so we can stop abuse (for example, limiting how many requests one install can make per day) and so related feedback can be grouped. Deleting the app removes it; a reinstall creates a new one.
4. Feedback you send
When you use Send Feedback in the app’s Settings, we receive:
- The kind of feedback (bug, idea, improvement or other) and the message you write.
- Your email address, only if you choose to give it, used solely to reply to you.
- The app version and build, your iPhone model (for example “iPhone17,1”), iOS version and language/region setting.
- Optionally, a one-line game context such as “generation 2 · age 42 · Tycoon”, which you can switch off before sending. Your saves are never sent.
- The anonymous install ID.
Feedback is stored in our backend database (hosted by Convex). We may also have a copy delivered to our own inbox through our email provider, Brevo; if you gave an email address it is used as the reply-to address. We never add you to a mailing list and never send marketing email. Feedback that can’t be sent right away waits on your device and is retried later.
5. AI chat replies (optional, off by default)
In-game characters normally reply using the game’s own writing, entirely on your device. If you turn on AI replies (the app asks first, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings), each message you type in a chat is sent to write that character’s reply. A request contains:
- The message you typed and up to ten earlier messages in that chat.
- A short description of the fictional situation: the character’s first name, age, job, relationship to you and personality, your character’s first name, age and job, and a few recent public events from the life. In-game secrets and crimes are filtered out.
- The anonymous install ID (for the daily limit).
Requests go through our backend (Convex) to OpenRouter, which forwards them to an AI model provider. We ask OpenRouter to use only providers that don’t retain or train on request data. We don’t store the chat text: our backend only keeps a count of requests per install per day, and a global hourly count, to enforce limits. Messages that look like someone may be in distress are never sent to AI. Please don’t type real personal information into game chats.
6. Update checks
At launch (and at most every few hours after that) the app asks our backend for a small configuration file: the latest app version, any maintenance notice or announcement, and whether AI chat is available. This request contains no identifier or game data.
7. Purchases
LifeSaga Pro and any other in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details, name or Apple ID. The app checks your purchase status with Apple on your device; purchase information isn’t sent to our servers.
8. Game Center (optional)
If you’re signed in to Game Center, the app reports scores to its leaderboards (this week’s challenge, net worth, generations reached and bloodline rating) and unlocks achievements, and shows your Game Center nickname in Settings. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy; your scores and nickname are visible to other players according to your Game Center settings. You can play without it.
9. Notifications (optional)
Reminders are off until you turn them on, and are scheduled locally on your iPhone. They may include your character’s first name. There is no push-notification server and no notification token is sent anywhere.
10. Service providers
| Provider | What for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Convex (USA) | Backend hosting and database | Feedback, AI chat requests in transit, request counts, update checks |
| OpenRouter and the AI model provider it routes to | Writing AI chat replies (only if you turn them on) | The chat request described in section 5, without the install ID |
| Brevo (EU) | Delivering feedback notifications to our inbox | Your feedback message and, if given, your email address |
| Vercel (USA) | Hosting this website | Standard web server logs (such as IP address and browser) needed to serve and secure the site |
| Apple | iCloud saves, purchases, Game Center, app distribution | Handled under Apple’s own privacy policy |
These providers process data on our behalf to run the service. Some are located outside your country, including in the United States; where required, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. How long we keep data
- Feedback: for as long as it’s useful to answer you and improve the app, and deleted on request.
- AI chat text: not stored. Request counters contain no message content and are kept only for rate limiting.
- Game saves: on your device and in your iCloud until you delete them.
12. Deleting your data
- Erase All Progress in the app’s Settings deletes your saves on the device and in your iCloud Drive, unsent feedback and your Game Center achievements. It can’t be undone. (Game Center leaderboard scores are kept by Apple, and purchases stay with your Apple ID.)
- Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device, including the install ID.
- To delete feedback or other data held on our backend, email lifesaga@nextarcstudio.com — including the date you sent feedback, or your email address if you gave one, helps us find it. We’ll confirm once it’s done.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the UK and EU, or state laws such as the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it. To exercise any right, contact us at lifesaga@nextarcstudio.com. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for AI replies and for the optional email address on feedback, and on our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the app for feedback, update checks and abuse limits.
14. Children
LifeSaga is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. The app has no accounts and no way to share personal information with other players. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through feedback, contact us and we’ll delete it.
15. This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs to deliver and protect the site.
16. Changes
If we change how LifeSaga handles data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect, and highlight significant changes in the app’s What’s New screen.
